If you haven’t read my post from last week, read that first! This post is part of a series of Enneagram posts that I hope will kick off your journey. If you’re all caught up, let’s get into it.
If the only way out is through, then the only way to escape your constructed personality is to see it. To begin your exploration of The Enneagram, you have to be willing to face the parts of yourself that you use as a defense against the world and then ask yourself what you’re defending.
Researching your type (or number) is a process that involves a lot of ups and downs. A-ha moments will be dampened by discomfort. Self-recognition ranges from comical to embarrassing. You’ll analyze your reactions and responses until you dredge up the part of yourself that feels too vulnerable to share with the world. The part of yourself that you use your personality to defend. Getting to that place of honesty with yourself about what you’re afraid of and why you are the way you are is what The Enneagram is all about.
