Hello!
I haven’t written here in a long, long time. After 2 years of working as an Astrologer, I kept burning out in my practice and it felt natural to take a break. I also wanted to give my Saturn return the attention it deserves (IYKYK). I’ve been revisiting old passions and living my life in a way that feels genuine and divorced from many of the philosophies I used to live by.
When I started Rational Astrologer, I immediately outlined the structure of the business. I built packages and programs based on what I saw other similar service-based creatives offering. I initiated influencer programs, marketing, and social media. I gained clients, subscribers, and followers and still felt the pressure of what was supposed to come next. I was supposed to keep growing, right? Set new goals, reach a larger audience, put myself out there more, find passive income sources, etc., etc.
I loved working with clients so much. The ability to write charts for people, connect with them, and help them see themselves holistically was incredibly fulfilling. But I was pushing myself to apply a rigidity to my work that felt restrictive, draining, and inauthentic.
The funny thing is, the answer was always sitting right there in my Astrological chart. My Mercury, Mars, and Saturn are all in Pisces. No matter how hard I try, I am fundamentally uninterested in rigidity and structure when it comes to creativity. I don’t care about monetizing my interests and skills. The success of my endeavors lies in the fulfillment of the work and the connection with others. This doesn’t lend itself well to a business plan but allowing my work the freedom it needs to thrive is more fulfilling to me than external ideas of success.
My favorite thing about Astrology is the way it highlights human complexity. Each personality is diverse, and our traits ebb and flow as our environment and experiences change. I’ve surrendered myself to the fact that I don’t like to be restrictively defined or structured creatively. I don’t want to “find my niche” so I can appeal to an algorithm or narrow audience. I want to fulfill all of my interests and creative desires whether or not they are successful. For me, practicing Astrology means engaging with all of myself, freely.
All this to say, I love writing and want to continue sharing my thoughts on Astrology and the human experience here. I have a lot to say about my Saturn return, Astrology’s current trends, and The Enneagram, but I also have a lot to say about my other interests as well. I hope you’ll stick around for the ride.
Thanks for being here <3
